What's Inside
What you're getting. What it does. What we won't tell you.
Open a bag of RÜÜT.
The first thing you'll notice isn't what you see. It's what you smell.
Earth. Rich, complex, alive. Not ammonia. Not chemicals. Not the sharp tang of something manufactured. The kind of smell that makes you want to stick your hands in it.
That smell is proof. Proof that what you're holding isn't a product assembled in a warehouse. It's an ecosystem that spent weeks becoming something.
Most people never think to smell their soil amendment. Start.
The Transparency Problem
Here's what most brands do: they hide behind ingredient lists. "Proprietary blend." "Contains beneficial microbes." "Organic matter."
That tells you nothing.
Here's what we'll do: tell you exactly what's in the bag, exactly what it does, and exactly how to verify quality yourself.
What we won't tell you: how we make it.
That's not evasion. That's the craft we spent years developing. The specific biological processes, the sequencing, the timing—that's proprietary. But the results are in every bag. And you can verify them.
Let's start.
The Foundation: Black Soldier Fly Frass
RÜÜT is built on BSF frass—what remains after Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic waste.
Most people hear "insect poop" and stop listening. Their loss.
BSF frass contains something no other common soil amendment provides: chitin. Ten to thirty percent by dry weight. Chitin is the compound that forms insect exoskeletons—and when it enters soil, it triggers a biological cascade that changes how plants defend themselves.
This isn't marketing language. It's peer-reviewed biology. (See The Science for the full mechanism.)
What BSF frass brings:
Chitin. The defense activation signal. When plants detect chitin fragments in soil, they prime their immune systems before threats arrive. Thicker cell walls. Defense compound production. Reduced palatability to pests. This is Systemic Acquired Resistance—SAR—and chitin is the trigger.
Nutrients. Two to five percent nitrogen, plus phosphorus, potassium, and trace minerals. The range isn't a flaw—it's reality. Frass composition varies based on what the larvae processed. We don't pretend otherwise.
Microbial diversity. The larvae gut contains beneficial microorganisms that transfer to the frass. This isn't a sterile input—it's a living one.
One thing to understand: Raw BSF frass isn't finished. Fresh frass can contain ammonia levels that stress plants. It needs biological processing to stabilize. That's where our proprietary methods come in—but we'll get to that.
The Microbial Ecosystem
This is where RÜÜT separates from everything else on the shelf.
Most "microbial" products contain 3-10 species. A few strains of Bacillus. Some mycorrhizal fungi. Targeted inoculants designed to do specific things.
That's not how healthy soil works.
Healthy soil contains hundreds of species across dozens of bacterial phyla—different evolutionary branches of life working together in ways no scientist has successfully replicated in a lab. This complexity doesn't come from manufacturing. It emerges from biological processes over time.
The numbers: Laboratory analysis of BSF frass-based amendments shows 36+ bacterial phyla.
Here's context for what that means:
All mammals—humans, dogs, whales, bats—belong to one phylum. All fish, one phylum. All birds, one phylum.
RÜÜT introduces 36+ bacterial phyla into your soil.
That's not species diversity. That's kingdom-level diversity.
What these microbes actually do:
Nutrient Cyclers break down organic matter and convert nutrients into forms plants absorb. This is why living amendments keep working for months—the biology processes what's there, not just what you added.
Biocontrol Specialists suppress harmful bacteria and fungi through competition and antibiotic production. They don't kill pathogens. They outcompete them.
Soil Structure Builders produce compounds that glue soil particles into stable aggregates. Better structure means better drainage, better water retention, better root penetration. Soil that actually works.
Plant-Growth Promoters produce hormones and signaling compounds that enhance root development. Some relationships are symbiotic—bacteria get food, plants get growth signals.
You get the whole ecosystem. Not just a few specialists.
The comparison that matters:
| Product Type | What You Get |
|---|---|
| Mycorrhizal Products | 1-8 fungi. Excellent at phosphorus uptake. Nothing else. |
| Bacterial Inoculants | 3-10 species. Specific functions only. |
| Standard Compost | 50-200 species. Good general diversity. |
| Compost Tea | Hundreds of species. Excellent—if you brew it yourself. |
| RÜÜT | 36+ bacterial phyla. Hundreds of species. Ready to use. |
The diversity in RÜÜT matches premium compost tea. You don't have to brew it.
Triple Biological Pathogen Filtration
Here's something nobody talks about in this industry: most biological amendments aren't fully processed.
Raw organic inputs can harbor microorganisms you don't want in your garden. Ammonia levels that stress plants. Biology that hasn't been filtered through safety processes.
RÜÜT passes through three distinct biological stages before it reaches you. Each stage serves a purpose: building microbial complexity, eliminating pathogens, stabilizing the final product.
We're not going to name those stages. We're not going to explain the sequencing. That's the IP we've built over years of development.
What we will tell you: the outcome.
By the time RÜÜT reaches your garden, harmful organisms have been outcompeted, consumed, or eliminated. The biology has passed three biological safety checks.
The result: Safe for edible gardens. No waiting period. Safe around children and pets.
The method is proprietary. The outcome is verifiable.
What You Won't Find
No synthetic fertilizers. The nutrients come from biological processing, not chemical manufacturing.
No peat. Peat extraction destroys carbon sinks that took thousands of years to form. We don't touch it.
No fillers. Some amendments bulk up with sand, rice hulls, or inert materials to increase volume. Everything in RÜÜT has a biological function.
No vague "proprietary blend" nonsense. We tell you what's in it. We just don't tell you exactly how we make it.
How to Verify Quality Yourself
Living biology has tells. You don't need a lab. You need your senses.
The smell test. Open the bag. Rich earth—complex, almost pleasant. If it smells like ammonia, the product isn't finished. If it smells like nothing, the biology might be dead. Trust your nose.
The texture test. RÜÜT isn't uniform powder. It's not identical pellets. You'll see varied particles, visible organic matter, signs of biological activity. That variation is proof of biological processing, not manufacturing inconsistency.
The moisture test. Should feel slightly damp but not wet. Too dry and biology goes dormant. Too wet and you risk mold. Proper moisture keeps the ecosystem alive.
The expiration check. RÜÜT has a 12-month shelf life. That's not a weakness—it's proof. Dead ingredients last forever. Living ecosystems don't.
If a soil amendment doesn't expire, ask yourself what's actually in it.
The Honest Caveats
We're not going to pretend this is perfect for every situation.
Variability is real. BSF frass composition depends on feedstock. Nutrient content ranges from 2-5% nitrogen. We test every batch, but nature doesn't produce identical outputs. That's biology.
It's not a complete soil. This is critical. RÜÜT cannot fill containers. Plants cannot grow in pure RÜÜT. It's a concentrated amendment—use 1 part RÜÜT to 4-5 parts existing soil or potting mix. Get this wrong and you'll waste product and disappoint yourself.
Shelf life matters. The biology is most diverse when fresh. Older product still works, but microbial diversity decreases over time. Don't stockpile.
Results take time. This isn't synthetic fertilizer. You won't see overnight transformation. The biology needs 2-4 weeks to establish. The defense activation needs time to express through plant growth. If you need instant results, this isn't the product.
The Time Difference
Most soil amendments are manufactured. Mixed in a warehouse. Bagged in 24 hours.
RÜÜT takes weeks.
Three sequential biological transformations. Each builds on the last. The complexity that emerges can't be replicated by blending ingredients on a factory floor.
Think fermented food. You can combine cabbage and salt in ten minutes. Sauerkraut takes weeks. The time isn't inefficiency—it's the process. The bacteria that make sauerkraut sauerkraut need time to work.
Same principle here. The microbial diversity, the pathogen elimination, the stability—all require biological time.
Twenty-four hours produces a blend.
Weeks produce an ecosystem.
We don't shortcut this. You can't shortcut biology.
What This Means for Your Garden
When you add RÜÜT to soil, you're introducing:
Defense activation signals. Chitin that primes plant immune systems before threats arrive.
Microbial diversity. An ecosystem that builds soil health over seasons, not just one application.
Biological stability. Material that's been through three safety stages and won't stress your plants.
The nutrients matter. But so does everything else.
The gardens that thrive aren't the ones with the most fertilizer. They're the ones with the most complete biology.
That's what RÜÜT provides.
